Vera Towne Coker

Memorial services for Mrs. Vera Towne Coker will be held Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM with visitation an hour prior to service time at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Vera Towne Coker, age 92, of Meridian, MS passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Northpointe Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Vera was a Christian Lady who will be remembered for her sweet spirit and smile. She was a longtime member of Oakland Heights/ College Park Methodist Church where she served in many capacities such as teaching Sunday school classes and singing in the Choir. She had a passion for volunteering in the community serving at Wesley House, Free Clinic of Meridian, and Feed by Faith. She spent her free time outdoors as much as possible where she fished, camped, and gardened. She retired from the accounting department at Sears and then later worked in the accounting department for Walmart.

She is survived by her daughters; Sandra Thomas and Nancy Towne, grandchildren; Tyler Thomas (Jessica) and Jordan Adstamongkonkul (Pichet), great grandchildren; Kristen Spurlock (T.J. Pope), Abby Gist, Atley Thomas, and Warner Thomas, great-great grandchildren; Elodie and Elliott Spurlock, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Towne, her second husband, Rex Coker, her parents, Albert and Vera Warner, siblings; Jeanette Gurney, Ruth Johnson, Clara Holmes and Austin Warner, son-in-law, Larry Thomas, and grandson, Bruce Thomas.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Wesley House.
