Vickey Ruth Meador Cobb

A service celebrating Vickey’s remarkable life will be held on May 2, 2018, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 pm and funeral from 2 pm to 3 pm with Davey Wilkinson and Ben Jones officiating.
Vickey Ruth Meador Cobb of Lauderdale, MS, entered into her eternal rest on Apr 27, 2018.
Vickey was born on February 20, 1942, and raised in Shreveport, LA.  Vickey later attended Northwestern Louisiana State University in Natchitoches, LA, pursuing her passion by graduating in 1965 with a master’s degree in education, a passion that burned long beyond her nearly four decades of work in the public schools.
After moving to Lauderdale, MS, Vickey, or Mrs. Cobb, as her students would know her, invested her time and energy into educating students at Northeast Lauderdale Elementary school.  Notably, she also invested in other teachers, serving as an influential mentor for student-teachers, expanding her legacy of educational excellence into future generations.
As a faithful follower of Christ, Vickey’s gifts led her to serve in various roles within her church community to help it grow and thrive, be it teaching children in Vacation Bible School and Sunday School, or volunteering for committees within the church.  Recently, she was proud to become a member of Gateway Church in Lauderdale, MS, in continuing service to Christ’s ministry in Lauderdale.
For those of us fortunate enough to know her as we grew up, she never seemed happier than to be out, supporting her beloved sons at a baseball or football field, sitting in a chair and laughing with friends about the goings on in life.  There have been many kind and loving people in this world, but one would be hard-pressed to find one greater than Vickey Cobb.
Vickey is survived by her son, Thad Cobb of Lauderdale, MS, her sister, Carolyn (Frank) McClung of Spring, TX, her sister-in-law, Martha Kate Bealle of Kosciusko, MS, her niece, Wendy Bulcroft of Houston, TX, her nephews, Peter McClung of Houston, TX, Brian McLaughlin of Orlando, FL, and Jimmy McLaughlin of Memphis, TN.
Vickey was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Ray Cobb, her son, Charles Cobb, and her parents, Victor and Pansey Meador of Shreveport, LA.
