Virgil Webb Nix Memorial services for Virgil Webb Nix will be held Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 at Central United Methodist Church with Mr. Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's United Methodist Church Columbarium, Monroe, LA with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Nix 73, of Meridian, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Nix retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard as a Colonel. During his time in the Guard, he was the Commander of the 210th Finance, which was selected to handle the entire Finance Operation of Reforger 82 in Germany. He also spent time as an instructor in the Mississippi Military Academy located at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, MS. He was later appointed by Gov. Kirk Fordice to the Mississippi State Guard as Commander and received the rank of Major General. As a graduate of the LSU School of Banking, he worked in the banking and insurance fields.Survivors include his wife of 49 years Trudy Baugh Nix of Meridian; daughters, Ann Elise Walston and her husband George, Jr. of Shreveport, LA, Katie Emfinger and her husband Ralph, Jr. of Port Gibson, MS, Holland Nix McConnell and her husband Glenn of Nashville, TN; sister, Evelyn Norsworthy of Bogalusa, LA; brother, Bob Nix and his wife Margaret of Carriere, MS; grandchildren, Rob and Hannah Walston, Alexis and Chloe Emfinger; and his favorite grand-dogs, Jessie and Blue McConnell; nieces, Tina Graves, Diane Herring, Mari Cooper, Martha Solko, Jolynn Herron, and Becky Palermo; nephews, Ellis Norsworthy, Scotty Herron and Johnny Baugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Daniel Webster Nix; his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Earnest Baugh; his brothers-in-law, Dewey Norsworthy and Lee Herron; and nephew Jay Herron.
