Virginia Carolyn Barfield

A memorial service/celebration of life for Mrs. Virginia Carolyn Barfield will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Russell Baptist Church’s Chapel. Bro. Steve Taylor and Bro. Jack Kern will officiate the service. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Barfield, age 79, of Meridian passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Bedford Care Center of Marion.

Mrs. Barfield was a loving mother and “mamaw” who loved spending time with her family. She was the co-owner of Lakeside Restaurant and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Barfield was a long time resident of Dalewood, before moving to the Russell community. She was a member of Russell Baptist Church. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie (Raymond) Mitchell; sons, Jim Kidd and Ricky (Vicki) Kidd; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her business partner and long-time friend, Howard Conoway.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Barfield, her parents, James Harold Valentine and Virginia Doggett Robinson; and one brother, Donnie Harold Valentine.

The family requests memorial donations to be made to the Anderson Cancer Patient Benevolence Fund, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or to the charity of your choice.
