Virginia Rainer Butler

Funeral services for Virginia Butler will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Center Grove Baptist Church in Lauderdale County with the Reverend Jimmy Culpepper and Reverend Bill Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Butler, 88, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at her residence. She was a faithful member of Causeyville Baptist Church where she served her Lord by teaching the adult women’s Sunday School Class. When her health would no longer permit her to go to church, she spent much of her time reading and enjoying Southern Gospel music programs and watching numerous television pastors. John 14:1-7 was one of her favorite passages because of the comfort and assurance it brought her. Her life was brightened by her granddaughters and great grandchildren and everybody else’s little ones! She received so much joy watching them play and watching them grow.

She was so grateful for all her caregivers that allowed her to remain in her home especially, Donna Allison, Betty Walker, Carolyn Walker, and Viesha Ford. She received loving care from her nurses especially her last, Sheila Irby.

She is survived by her son, Danny Butler, of Meridian; daughters, Patsy Thrash and husband, Joey, Mary Sumrall and husband, Eric, and Martha Williams and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Leah (Matt) Hearn, Erin (Barry) Nowell, and Lauren (Jeremy) Morgan; great grandchildren, Addison, Brendan, and Blaine Nowell, Della Reece Morgan, and Noah Hearn; sisters, Reida Howard, Minnie Robinson, and Jean Sparks; one brother, Bill Rainer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Butler; parents, W.M. and Ivah Rainer; brother-in-law, Mike Howard; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Rainer and Evon Rainer.

Pallbearers will be Jim Butler, Ronnie Beck, Donnie Queen, Tommy Joe Butler, Donald Goodman, and Robert Delmer Carlisle.
