Virginia Pigott Rushing Services for Virginia Pigott Rushing will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Pam Randall and Paul Raley officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Rushing, 79, of Meridian, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, at her residence. She lived her entire life in Meridian, graduating from Meridian High School in 1952. She spent her career at Rush Foundation Hospital. Her most meaningful position was serving as Administrative Secretary to the hospital administrator Mr. J. C. (Buddy) McElroy, Jr. She was a faithful and active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Meridian. She is survived by her son Kevin Rushing and wife Anna of Memphis, Tennessee; daughter, Robin Ivey and husband Kevin of Meridian and daughter, Elayne Johnson and husband Andy of Northport, Alabama; granddaughters, Sarah Johnson, Grace Rushing and Vivian Rushing; grandsons, Taylor Ivey, Matthew Ivey and Andrew Johnson; brother, Gene Pigott and wife Pat of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Kazuko Pigott of Meridian and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby J. Rushing; her parents, Tom and Virgie Pigott; eight brothers, Ray, Otis, Tommy, Charles (Buddy), Billy, Jimmy, Harold and Eddie Pigott. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Andy, Stan and Wade Pigott and family friends Ronnie, Terry and Rick Chambers. The family requests memorials be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, The Wesley House Community Center, Rush Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and Lauderdale County Relay for Life.
