Virginia Smith McRae Funeral services for Virginia Smith McRae will be held Monday, February 9, 2015, at 11:30 am at Bethany Baptist Church in Whynot, Mississippi, with Reverend Ty Pigott and Reverend Marvin Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Monday prior to the service from 10:00 until service time. Burial will be at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. McRae, age 92, of the Whynot Community, surrounded by her family, went to be with her King on Friday, February 6, 2015. Mrs. McRae was married to Lorraine McRae for 56 years. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling together on bus tours. Mr. and Mrs. McRae traveled to every state in America, as well as two trips abroad. She was an active member of the Whynot Community. She was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. She was employed by Burnley Shirt Factory, Vanity Fair, and Rob Roy until retiring in 1975. Mrs. McRae was a member of the Friendship Garden Club, as well as a volunteer for Anderson Regional Medical Center for fourteen years. She was a recipient of the WTOK 11 Who Cares honor. Mrs. McRae was also an avid fan of Whynot Motorsports. She was well known for her pound cakes that she baked and delivered with love. Mrs. McRae is survived by three children, Ann McRae Williams, Kelva McRae (Vivian), and William McRae (Deborah); six grandchildren, Michael Booker (Tina), Michelle Booker Murphy, Vanessa McRae Thomas, Vicky McRae Stephens (Glen), David McRae (Thuy), Matthew McRae (April); step-grandchildren, Jessica and Elliott Ventiere; six great-grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Imogene Ford; three special friends, Norene Thomas, Rosa Wells, and Jeff Smith; also, a very special pet, Bella Rae. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorraine McRae, son-in-law, Davis Williams, as well as two sisters and two brothers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Sharon, Lois, Harper's Hospice and The Fisher House. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Pallbearers will be Michael Booker, David McRae, Matthew McRae, Brandon Booker, Glen Stephens, and Jeff Smith.
