Graveside services for Mr. Walter J. Thomas will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Ebb Fox officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Thomas, 74, of Meridian, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Walter was a talented carpenter and contractor having built over 300 homes in Lauderdale county. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening; he especially loved spending time with his family, his animals and being on his four tractors.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila Smith Thomas; children, Wade Thomas and Sharene Boman (Joe). Grandchildren, Jacob Thomas (Samantha), Cameron Boman, Alexis Boman, and Jessica Boman. Great-grandchildren, Katie Joe Thomas, Mason Thomas, and Piper Jane Thomas. Brother, Donnie Thomas (Janice), and one sister, Elizabeth Briggs.

Mr. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Annie Pearle Thomas; brothers, William Earl “Buddy” Thomas, Roy Roger Thomas; sisters, Marie Williams, Louise Taylor and Janeice Roberts.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Thomas, Joe Boman, Bill Stewart, Ray Smith, Shawn Stewart, and Scott Sollie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steven Stewart, and Benny Winham.

The family suggest that memorials be made as donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.

The Thomas family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 12:30 am at the funeral home prior to graveside rights at 1:00 pm.
