Funeral services for Mr. William "Billy" Barrett will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lane Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Toomsuba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 10:45 AM prior to funeral services.

William Lewis "Billy" Barrett, 86, of Toomsuba, MS, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He owned and operated Travla Restaurant and Gift Shop for 42 years.

Billy was a member of Toomsuba Presbyterian Church.

He was a founding member of Toomsuba Volunteer Fire Department and later served as the Fire Chief for over 25 years. Billy also served as president of the Toomsuba Water Association Board until the day of his passing.

Billy was affectionally known as Pappaw to his grandkids and great grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma Barrett, children, Michael Barrett and Paula Barrett, grandchildren; Kristina Clark (Jody), Nicole Dotson (Dustin), Will Barrett, Jennifer Matherly, and Stephany Stewart (Chris), great-grandchildren; Kaleb Clark, Hayden Clark, Shelby Kate Clark, Abigail Dotson, Seth Dotson, Jeremy Addy, Savanna Addy, Christopher Tyler Avant, CJ Stewart, and Brianna Stewart, cousin, Dr. Robert Lewis, special niece, Kim Chadwick, and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, Henry and Garnette Barrett, and his brother, Bobby Barrett.

Pallbearers will be Andy Pippin, Jody Clark, Kaleb Clark, Hayden Clark, Jeremy Addy, and Christopher Tyler Avant. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Billy Stuckey, Brandon Harper, Andrew Bateman, Chris Sheffield, Floyd Hurt, and Allan Dover.

The Barrett family would like to extend a special thank you to Jaquita Smith, CNA, and Crystal Bryant, LPN, of Compassus Hospice for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided to Billy from November until the time of his passing.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Toomsuba Presbyterian Church or Toomsuba Volunteer Fire Department.
