William P. "Billy" Cook Services for William P. "Billy" Cook will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend David Dewease and Reverend Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Cook, 73, of Meridian died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence. He was a member and Deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church and gave freely of his time with construction, electrical and all other work needed at his church. Mr. Cook was very involved in mission construction in the United States as well as out of the country. He was a retired electrician and a member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 917, for fifty plus years. He worked at Naval Air Station Meridian in the Public Works Department for nineteen years. Mr. Cook served in the Mississippi National Guard for eight years before being called to active duty with the United States Air Force in France in 1963 during the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Cook's passions were people and his work. He is survived by his wife of fifty six years Sarah L. Cook of Meridian, a son William P. Cook, Jr. and his wife Donna and their children Lea, Daniel and Lydia, two daughters Sheila Neal and her husband Todd and their children Jake and his fiancé Lindsey Skelton and Dylan, Nicole Herrington and her husband Adam and their children Jordan, Peyton and Kaitlyn, two sisters Louise Brown and Patricia Wallace, one brother Lester Cook, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tommy and Lois Miles and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Sarah Cook, two brothers Lorie and Mickey Cook, and a special uncle Winter M. Palmer, who raised him from birth and his grandparents Edwin and Pauline Palmer. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund. Pallbearers will be Greg Caldwell, Jerry Snowden, Tommy Nutt, Davis Arias, Tim Caldwell, Johnny Robinson, Colby Jones and Donnie Kinard.
