William "Bill" Mitchell

Services for William "Bill" Mitchell will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Gary Blair and Dr. Reid Whittington officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell, 84, of Meridian, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Bedford Care Center in Marion. Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong member of South Side/Central Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Meridian Naval Air Station where he served in supply for the civil service. Mr. Mitchell loved baseball and enjoyed working with youth baseball. He was the first baseball coach at Lamar School. He also enjoyed Meridian Community College baseball and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Pigford Mitchell of Meridian; daughter, Sally Ann Mitchell of Meridian; son, Terry Mitchell of Lynn Haven, Florida; sister, Georgette Mosley and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosalie Nosser and Victoria Mitchell; brothers, Ellis Mitchell, Johnnie Mitchell, George Mitchell, Jr. and Victor Mitchell.

The family requests memorials be made to Central Baptist Church, 2511 C Street, Meridian, Mississippi 39301.
