William Nelson Hall

Private Funeral Services for Mr. William Nelson Hall will begin Monday, March 30, 2020 at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Mark Flynn officiating. Private Family Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

William Nelson Hall, age 89, passed from this life March 27, 2020 at his residence in Meridian, MS. He was the husband of Linda Grayson Hall; They shared 33 years of marriage together.

A lifelong resident of Meridian, Mr. Hall was born February 3, 1931. He was a graduate of Meridian High School, and of The University of Mississippi. He was the owner of Nelson Hall Chevrolet, a company originally called Reliable Chevrolet, where he first began working in 1953. He was immeasurably proud of this business that provided good jobs and lively hood for so many people through the years.

A Devoted member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mr. Hall enjoyed participating in the choir; He also served several terms as a church Elder. Active in Meridian civic affairs, he provided leadership in several organizations. He served as the president of the following at various times: The Meridian Chamber of Commerce, The Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association, The Meridian Industrial Foundation, and the Rotary Club.

Mr. Hall loved outdoor sports and activities. Throughout his life he took great joy in golfing, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. He also took a deep and abiding interest in sustaining wildlife habitat. An avid supporter of Ole Miss athletics, he and his family were frequent visitors to his Alma Maters sporting events.  People who knew Nelson, that two of his finest traits were his friendliness and generosity.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Meridian; children, Link Hall (Elizabeth) Natchitoches, LA; Steve Hall (Beverly), Meridian, MS ; Laurie Hall Badwey (Rick), Alexandria, VA; John Hall (William Sanders), Washington, DC; and Sonya Chatham Elmer, Tupelo, MS. Twelve Grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Joyce Beasley, Tupelo, MS; and Glynn Fort, Oxford, MS, and The mother of his children, Barbara Lincoln Hopper.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Bounds; and son, James “Bubba” Chatham.

Mr. Hall and family requests memorials be made as donations to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745 in lieu of flowers.
