William Riley Jones, Sr.

A memorial service for William “Billy” R. Jones, Sr., age 84, of Meridian, Mississippi will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.

Billy was born on December 9, 1934 and died on June 30, 2019. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. His love for country music provided his family and friends with many years of entertainment. His recordings include “It Was Only a Promise”, “Please Forgive Me”, “Indiana Lady”, and “Everything But Goodbye.” He was a proud member of The International Singing Brakemen Association.

He is survived by his children Billy Jones Jr. (Joy), Crystal Mitchell (Bruce), a very special friend Brenda Smith, grandchildren Daphne Fortner, Darrell Jones, Tori Jones, Derik Boler (Camille), Mistianne Boler, Sevannah Barnett, William Jones, Haleigh Jones, Dallas Jones, Elijah Jones, Amber Phelps and his former wife Patricia Jones. Brothers Harold (Bubba) Jones, Ronny Jones (Pam). Sisters: Ann Dean (Walter), Lydia Parker (John), Margaret Trest and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sons Stevie and Ricky, his grandsons Bo and Ritchie, and his brothers Francis, Danvis and Robert.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service.
