Willie "Rae" Clarke

Funeral services for Mrs. Willie “Rae” Clarke will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Clarke, 81, of the Damascus Community, in Kemper County, died Monday, September 4, 2023 at John C. Stennis Medical Center in DeKalb.

Mrs. Rae loved being outdoors and tending to her cattle, her pets, her flowers, and her farm; she also loved spending time with her daughter and her “adopted daughters.” Mrs. Clarke was a Christian, first and foremost, and loved serving and worshiping the Lord. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and faithfully attended Lighthouse Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Obadiah Homemakers Club. She was retired from the Lauderdale County School System after many years of service; working in the cafeteria at West Lauderdale High School and driving her School Bus. She never met a stranger, making friends wherever she went; she cooked and served food for many years at various businesses. Cooking was one of her passions and sharing this with everyone was her joy.

Mrs. Rae is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Clarke; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Haskins, Virginia Bennett and Debbie Clarke; brother-in-law, Robert G. Clarke (Elaine); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. Clarke is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Charles E. “Chuck” Clarke; her parents Cliff and Willie Bell Wiggins; and her brother J.W. “Dub” Haskins.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Eldridge, Todd Eldridge, Jeremiah McKee, Richard Harbour, Roger Hagan, and Randy Smith.
