Wilma "Jean" Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Jean Smith will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Bro. Bill Webb and Bro. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Jean Smith, age 85, of Meridian passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Rush Specialty Hospital of Meridian.

Jean was a member of Midway Baptist Church for over sixty years and served as a choir member for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Mrs. Smith was known for her homemade tea cakes and biscuits. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Gloria Harris and Garry Smith of Meridian, and Beverly LeBlanc and her husband Don of Pine Grove, LA; grandchildren, Justin LeBlanc, Gabriel LeBlanc, Valerie Freeman, and Brenna Smith; great-grandchildren, Palmer LeBlanc; brothers, Johnny Yates, Larry Yates, and Norman Yates; sisters, Dorothy Mills and Doris Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Pruitt Smith.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Pallbearers will be Justin LeBlanc, Gabe LeBlanc, Johnny Yates, Larry Yates, Chase Freeman, and Don LeBlanc. Norman Yates will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. Due to current state and local restrictions the funeral home is operating at 50% capacity with up to 100 guests indoors at once.
