Pete Hartley, age 89, passed away Monday, June 8, 2026. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Hartley (Andy Burt); granddaughter, Rachelle Williams (Matt); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Aaron, and Josiah Williams; brother, Gary Hartley (Frances); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Hartley; children, Steven Hartley and Velissa Hartley; parents, Esther Williams and James Winfield Hartley: siblings, Esther Hartley, Clara Mae Hartley, Robert “Bob” Hartley, Dixie Walker, Eddie Hartley, and James “Jimmy” Hartley.
Pete proudly served as an aviation structural mechanic in the US Navy and was honorably discharged after nearly two decades. He had many achievements while serving, but none greater than winning “yard of the month” more than once. Following his stint in the military, he owned a livestock farm in Missouri, worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma, and worked as a civilian at NAS Meridian, Mississippi.
He enjoyed bowling with his wife, golfing with his son, riding motorcycles with his daughters, raising his granddaughter as his own, spoiling his great-grandsons, playing poker with his friends, telling stories and jokes, and cooking for anyone & everyone. His sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be Andy Burt, Matt Williams, Jordan Williams, Aaron Williams, Josiah Williams, Joey Robbins, and Phillip Warren.
Pete believed in helping others and giving back. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
