Mrs. Jay, 95, of the Snell Community, died Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Poplar Springs Nursing Home.

Her faith in God and love of family and friends were the cornerstones of her existence and her ever-present compassion was the trademark of her life. Mrs. Winnifred retired from Riley Memorial Hospital's housekeeping department. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing stories and journaling.

Mrs. Jay is survived by her daughter, Teresa Roberts (Ronny), her daughter-in-law, Shirley Jay; her grandchildren Eric James (Alicia), Jerra Brillhart (David), Brandi Palmer (Josh), Jeff Jay (Kim), and Billy Joe Jay (Tanya); thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. Winnifred is preceded in death by her husband Bill Jay, Sr.; her son, Gene Jay, Jr.; her parents, Carlton and Edrie Sollie; and her brothers, Raymond Sollie (Sally) and Bill Sollie.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandson.
