Funeral services for Woodie H. Abraham, Jr. M.D. will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 27, 2024, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Reverends Katie Sorey and Austin McGehee officiating. Interment will follow graveside rites at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Dr. Abraham, 90, was surrounded by love when he passed away from his home for the best Home of all, Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Woodie was graduated from Meridian High School with many honors, both academically and athletically. He completed his undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University and went on to Medical School at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. After serving his residency in the U.S. Airforce. He returned to Meridian, MS in 1968, where he delivered 10,000 babies through the course of his 30 year practice, caring for multiple generations of families throughout Meridian and the surrounding area.
Dr. Abraham is survived by his wife, Helen Blanks Abraham; children, Beverly Abraham Montgomery (Jim), Cynthia Abraham Sanders (Mark), and Susanna Abraham Mullen. Nine Grandchildren, Six Great-Grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Ralph Abraham (Mary), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Woodie is preceded in death by his parents, Woodie Abraham, Sr. and Annie Mitchell Abraham; and his daughter, Deborah Abraham Pipes.
The Abraham Family requests memorials be made as donations to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (1116 23rd Ave, Meridian, MS 39301) or to The Alzheimer’s Association of Mississippi (207 W Jackson St, Ridgeland, MS 39157) in lieu of flowers.
