X L "Jack" Harris

Funeral service for X L "Jack" Harris will be held Monday, July 25, 2022, 2:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Moore and Rev. Kenneth Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Community Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. X L "Jack" Harris, age 88, of Meridian passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 22, 2022.

In his younger days, he became a father-figure to all his sisters and did so much for all of them. Jack was married to the love of his life Katherine Olevia Riley and became a part of the Clarkdale Community. For the majority of his life, he worked in the furniture business where he eventually became the proud owner of his own furniture store, Harris Discount Furniture, in the Clarkdale Community. In his off time, he would either be seen pushing dirt on his bulldozer, pickin' n grinnin', or cuttin' a rug. His family knows that he was probably jitterbuggin' down the streets of gold to his sweetheart Katherine and listening to some good ole bluegrass/country music with Nathaniel Burks upon his passing. As an upstanding man, he was well respected by those that knew and loved him.

Survivors include his son, Ronald D. Harris (Debra); grandchildren, Nathan Harris and Elizabeth Harris Fisher (Patrick); great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Katie Fisher; siblings, Delma Dean (Sammy) and Ann Harris Duett; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Harris; parents, Cecil and Lora Harris; siblings, Irene Massey, Doris Taylor, Lorene Riley, and Marie Butts.

The family requests memorials be made to Oak Grove Community Cemetery Fund.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Harris, Tim Cade, Sam Kidd, Jr., Sam Kidd, III, Leslie Scott, and Tyler Carroll.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Patrick Kidd, Sr., Jerry Ray Cumberland, Ross Floyd, and Mel Bounds.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 25, 2022, from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the funeral home prior to service time.
