Ms. Lisa Cain Anderson, age 59, of Meridian passed away at Anderson Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 11, 2019.
Lisa graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach in the Starkville Public School system for many years. There she positively affected the lives of hundreds of children and influenced many future teachers and colleagues. She was one of the first teachers in Mississippi to become Nationally Board Certified. Lisa was also the recipient of the prestigious Milken Educator Award. Later in her career, she dedicated her time to mentoring other teachers on their journey to becoming Nationally Board Certified. Lisa was blessed to be able to care for her mother at the end of her life. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was a trusted confidant, a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on.
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents Troy Cain Jr. and Barbara Hollingsworth Cain. She is survived by her children Kristen Anderson Armstrong and John Anderson (Kristin), her grandchildren Foster and Anna Armstrong and Lily, Tristin and Gaston Anderson, her sisters Mary Smith (Ron) and Barbara Gay Arnold, her aunts Mary Owen and Sarah Crouch (Ernie), her nephew Jay Spell (Carrie) and beloved nieces, Leigh Ann Flynn (Alex), Caitlyn Necaise (Ty) and Sarah Smith, as well as many close cousins and extended family.
She loved and was loved by many and will be deeply missed. There will be a receiving of friends Monday, January 14th 2019 at Robert Barham family funeral from 2-4pm, followed immediately by a memorial service.
