Funeral services for Rev. Jim Meadows will be conducted Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the Long Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Meadows and Bro. Marty Harper officiating. Interment will follow in the Long Creek Cemetery under the direction of Robert Barham Family Funeral Home. James Robert Meadows was born November 21, 1931 in Muscle Shoals, AL to his parents, Dee and Mossie Lee Bradford Meadows, and passed away July 8, 2015 at Anderson Regional Medical Center at the age of 83. His early and formal years of schooling were in north Alabama before he came to Newton to attend Clarke Memorial College as a young student. His lifelong mission was to be a servant of Christ, which he did faithfully. Rev. Meadows pastored three churches in his ministry, Mt. Vernon Baptist, Meridian, Hills Chapel Baptist Church in Hazel Green, AL, and Long Creek Baptist Church in Meridian, where he has served the past fifty years. He is preceded in death by his parents Dee and Mossie Lee Bradford Meadows and his in laws: Kenneth and Grace Hodgkin; two sisters: Emma Lee (Ed) Glasier and Dovia (Walker) Brown; three brothers: Dudley (Sue), Walter Ryan (Beulah), and Harry Meadows; and three sisters-in-law: Beverly Meadows, Carolyn Meadows and Betty Evans. He is survived by his wife of over 66 years: Linda Meadows of Toomsuba; seven children: Dr. Sandra (Larry) Barlow of Tallahassee, FL; Virginia (Ben) Sells of Meridian; Teresa (Jason) Porter of Sibley, LA; Debbie (Dave) Irby of Meridian; Brenda (Charles) Coleman of Meridian; Dr. Ray (Deenie) Meadows of Anthem, AZ and John (Christy) Meadows of Charleston, S.C.; seventeen grandchildren: Tony Barlow, Wesley Barlow, Jay Coker, Jena Jacobs, Jason Porter, Tamie Ansley, Karen Coats, Chris Coleman, Stephanie Coleman, Renae Savell, Steven Irby, Melissa Meadows, Alex Meadows, Allison Meadows, Preston Meadows, Chandler Meadows, and Elijah Meadows,; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers: J.B. Meadows of Muscle Shoals, AL and Aldon (Alice) Meadows of Louisville, TX; one-sister-law: Jeri Meadows of Muscle Shoals, AL; one brother-in-law: Walter Evans of Kingston, TN; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jimmy McQuaig, Mike Hall, Jerry Spivey, Jerry Moore, Corey Reece and Chris Coffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Davidson and Robert Murphy. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Long Creek Baptist Church from 2 - 6 PM.
