E.M. "Hoot" Gipson

Funeral service for E.M. "Hoot" Gipson will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Dr. Nathan VanHorn and Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements. Mr. E.M. "Hoot" Gipson, age 89, of Meridian passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Bedford Care Center of Marion surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hoot was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Hoot served in the U.S. Marine Corp where he was stationed to help in the Korean Conflict. He loved his church family were served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Meridian. He was an active member of the Glenn Deweese Sunday school class. Mr. Gipson was a hardworking man in the years his health would allow him. He established the company Gipson Steel Inc. in 1976, with his wife Doris. He was apart of many clubs and organizations with the company including Chairman of ABC Mississippi, Construction Man of the Year for ABC Mississippi, Past President of EMBDC, Paul Harris fellow with Rotary Club of Meridian. He was an avid golfer, and member of Queen City Golf Group. Hoot loved Mississippi State University and his Bulldogs. He contributed throughout the years to the MSU Foundation and Bulldog club. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Doris W. Gipson; sons, Scott Gipson, Steven Mark Gipson (Dee), and James Keith Gipson (Teresa); grandchildren, Michael Gipson (Tammy), Christopher Gipson (Kerri), Brandi Dubose, and Katie Gipson; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Landon, and Ryder; sister, Betty Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Mavis Gipson; daughter-in-law, Mary Gipson; father-in-law, Raymond Walker; mother-in-law, Willie Belle Walker. Pallbearers will be Richard Armstrong, Elton Hogan, Roye Pitts, Thoye Pitts, Scott Morgan, Jaime Castillo, and Jeff Gardner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Gibson, Jeff Craft, Melvin Broach, Danny Scarbrough, Tim Flynn, Paul McMullan, David Ryan, Jimmy Alexander, Tommy Dulaney, Danny Kerley, Charles Naylor, Bruce Martin, Round Table Investment Club, Easy Street Investment Club, and Masonic Lodge of Marion #507.
