Funeral services for Mavis Marie McKee Massey will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Kemper County. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mavis McKee Massey, age 96, was born on Wednesday, March 17, 1926 and passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Anderson Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was loved by everyone who knew her. Mavis was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was known by many endearing titles but one of her favorite title was used by the majority of the family was "Granny."
Mavis, a Christian and member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, formerly known as Oakland Heights, for over 66 years. She had enjoyed living independently for the past 3 years at Aldersgate Retirement Community where she formed many wonderful friendships with other residents and staff also.
Mrs. Massey is survived by two daughters: Kaye Duncan (Tommy) and Gail Mosley (Chuck); her son, Leo Massey (Anne); nine grandchildren, Ken Duncan (Vicky), Regina Duncan Ziller (Jay), Ryan Duncan (Sarah), Angie Massey Foley (Brad), Brian Massey (Jennifer), Chris Massey (Ashley), Randy Mosley, Jason Collier (Renae) and Leigh Anne Collier Miller (Clay); thirty-two great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved her and was loved dearly by her.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Janie McFarland McKee; sister, Enid Chisolm; brother, Laverne McKee; and husbands, Ray Massey and Cecil Massey.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
