Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Machost Doebbler will begin at 2:30 PM Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with The Reverend Morris Thompson, III officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in Kemper County. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Doebbler, 83 of Meridian, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 1, 2020.
After raising her children, Shirley returned to college and received her master’s degree to serve as a Certified Environmental Services Director for local Hospitals. She worked for Riley Memorial Hospital from 1985-1998 as the Environmental Services Director. Following her tenure at Riley’s, she worked for the Meridian Public School District until her retirement at the age of 75. She dearly loved her family and friends, to know her was to love her and she loved fiercely in return. Shirley had a green thumb and loved gardening in her greenhouse, which was her sanctuary. She had a special knack for growing all plants. Mrs. Shirley loved playing softball and continued into her 60’s for the Meridian City League. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Shirley is survived by children, Stella Kinard, Katherine Wright, Stephen Doebbler, Vincent Doebbler (life partner Shari); Special friend, Sandra Wood; and her precious companion, Chloe. Grandchildren, Monica Rich, Samantha Andrus (Russell), Michelle Solt (Fiancé’ Robert Rice), Matteo Doebbler, Stephanie Kinard (Fiancé’ Josh Ordeneaux). Six Great-grandchildren and one on the way as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mrs. Doebbler is preceded in death by her parents Cora and George Benke; brothers, Alton Machost (Babe) and Norris Machost (Emily).
The family requests memorials be made as donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Doebbler, Vincent Doebbler, Matteo Doebbler, Russell Andrus, Josh Ordeneaux, Greer Goldman, and Tommy Croft.

The Doebbler family will receive guests from 1:00 PM until 2:15 PM prior to services at the funeral home. Due to current state and local restrictions the funeral home is operating at 50% capacity allowing up to 100 guests indoors at once. Face coverings should be worn prior to admittance indoors.
